SUTTON 12-18’S (SMILE)
Springboard’s Sutton 12-18 group provides support to disabled young people through sessions, activities, trips and breaks that give independence, new opportunities and social interaction equal to that of their non-disabled peers.
The group also gives parents and carers a break from their caring role, as well as give them the comfort that their child is getting social opportunities with the support they need.
Sessions focus around developing disabled young people’s friendships and social networks, interactions, learning life skills and building independence by supporting them to take part in a variety of enjoyable, recreational and social activities in an inclusive environment which increases their self-esteem, confidence and social skills as well as encouraging physical exercise, improving motor skills and introducing new opportunities.
You can access Springboard’s Sutton 12-18’s via referral from the London Borough of Sutton – Disabled Children’s Service. For more information contact your social worker, Key Worker or the Short Breaks Team on 020 8770 4690. Parents can also use direct payments to access the group and sessions.
SUTTON 18+ (SMILE+)
Springboard’s Sutton 18+ (SMILE +) group provides support to disabled young adults through sessions, activities, trips and breaks that build independence, transferable life skills and social interaction equal to that of their non-disabled peers.
The group also helps with the transition from children’s services to adult services as well as giving parents and carers a break from their caring role.
Sessions focus around developing and sustaining disabled young adults friendships, social networks and interactions. Further develop life skills and building on their independence by supporting them to take part in a variety of enjoyable, recreational and social activities such as the cinema, restaurants, bowling, theme parks, sporting venues, shops, arts/heritage venues and local parks/facilities.
You can access Springboard’s Sutton 18+ (SMILE +) either via referral from the London Borough of Sutton or self refer. If you live in neighbouring London Boroughs, you can also self refer.
After referral, Springboard meet the young adult and their parents/carers to identify appropriate sessions, level of support required and to ensure the group is right for the individual.

Dolphins is a swim programme for those with physical or mental impairments. Based throughout Surrey we offer friendly swim sessions which are open to anyone who feels their mental or physical health would benefit from joining one of the assisted groups.
